OUR SURVIVAL KIT

Our group decided on our twenty items by thinking about how hot it would be in a drought. We choose our eight items by experiencing a drought. Our group found that what we were going to make was really hard to make out of the thing we had. We found that we could work well together as a team. We have a few good things about working in this group like we can ask each other about thing we don’t know and we can help each other learn.

These are our 10 items because we are doing drought:

1.water
2.sunscreen
3.caned food
4.44magnum
5.spare clothing
6.pillow and blanket
7.preactive gear
8.compass
9.matchsticks
10.shovel

Our 8 items are:

Water-We choose to include water because in drought there is no water and you need water to dink so you don’t get dehydrated

Caned food-So the food does not go off during the drought because it is so hot.

44 magnum-So we can hunt animals and eat fresh meat.

Pillow and blanket-so at night we have somewhere to sleep instead of on the ground.

Proactive gear-So while we do work build the house we wont get hurt.

Sunscreen-So we don’t get sun burnt in the drought because the sun is always out in a drought.

Spare clothing-So we can be fresh and clean, so our clothes wont be dirty.

Matchsticks-So we can start a fire to cook our meat and caned food.

Compass-So if we get lost we can find a way to the place we need to get to.

Shovel-So we can build a small house in to dirt, so we can live there until our home has been

rebuilt.

DROUGHT-REASEARCH QUESTIONS

Research
Questions

1. How does the natural disaster effect the environment?

A drought can really effect the environment by killing almost all the plants. This means that the herbivores will have nothing to eat. If all the plants die the herbivores will die too. If the herbivores die out then the carnivores wont be able to eat them, and if they have nothing to eat they will die. If the animals, plants and water run out and die then we won’t have anything to eat or drink and we will die.

2. How does it occur?

A drought occurs when it is sustained with no water. A lack of rain can also cause a drought to happen. Nothing can stop an on coming drought except for rain.

3. How do people respond to this disaster?

After a drought people respond in many ways like they are thinking to make a big machine that takes water out of the ocean and takes the salt out. Some people are also thinking about a big machine that takes our waste, cleaning it then use it.

4.identifing

People suffer from drought because it is so hot at that Crops, fruit, veggies and flowers will die because it is so hot, which makes prices go up for food and flowers because they don’t make much money with a few because of that when people pay money they will lose a lot and will get much food for their family.

5. Affecting people and responding
Drought in Australia has occurred in 1982-1983,1991-1995 and 2002-2006. All of these droughts occurred by low rainfall, for a long period of time. As well as that all had been given money more than a billion dollars. All went dry in the drought. People asked the government to raise money by putting on partys, concerts and many more things.

DROUGHT - WHY THEY EFFECT AUSTRALIA?

WE THOUGHT DROUGHT WOULD BE A GOOD NATURAL DISASTER TO CHOOSE BECAUSE WE HAVE A VERY DRY COUNTRY WITH LOTS OF HOT DAYS AND FEW COLD DAYS. WHEN THERE IS NO RAIN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME A DROUGHT CAN OCCUR. A DROUGHT CAN ALSO OCCUR BECAUSE AUSTRALIA IS THE SECOND DRIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.THAT IS WHY WE CHOOSE DROUGHT AS OUR DISASTER.
